Home Stretch

We're heading into the home stretch over here.  T-minus ten hours until J&A are shipped off to the grandparents for the weekend and the Mister and I spend the next two days painting walls, assembling furniture, hanging artwork, installing light fixtures and staging accessories.  It will all culminate Sunday afternoon in surprise bedroom make-over reveals for our now three-year-old twin toddlers.

In the past two months I have:
  • Made over fifteen trips to Home Depot
  • Made over a dozen trips to Ben Franklin Crafts
  • Took ten trips to fabric stores
  • Took five trips to local thrift shops
  • Searched Craigslist every morning for three weeks looking for a particular bed for J's room (finally got it!)
  • Purchased eight cans of spray paint
  • Painted two pieces of furniture
  • Created seven pieces of artwork (here and here)
  • Bought at least ten throw pillows (half of which will probably be returned)
  • Sewed a pennant flag banner
  • Made a cushion for a bench seat
  • Spent countless hours online comparing prices, gathering ideas, and reading how-to blogs
  • And made one epic trip to Ikea
Phew!  No wonder I am so tired!

I am so excited for this weekend.  I know it is going to be tons of hard work, but I can't wait to see everything come together.  And mostly, I can't wait to see the expressions on my little ones' faces when they see their new bedrooms.

Talk to y'all next week, folks.  I promise lots of pictures.
