Rocking Chair Restoration

We inherited this sweet, little rocking chair as a hand-me-down from my father-in-law.  It used to sit in my husband's room when he was a child and is the perfect fit for A's new bedroom.  However, at over 40 years old, this rocking chair needed a little TLC.  Enter Howard Restor-A-Finish.

If you have never used Howard's, it is pretty much a miracle worker.  It easily buffs out small scuffs and scratches....I have used it many times over the past years: on our old wood kitchen table, our wooden stools, a wood tray, and the wood trim-work in our previous home.  You can purchase it online via Amazon or in the paint section of Lowe's or Home Depot.

We happened to have the "Mahogany" stain on-hand which was a perfect match for this little rocker.  You can see from these before pictures some of the blemishes that we were dealing with.

I started by thoroughly washing down the chair with some warm, soapy water.  After cleaning as much gunk and grime off the chair as I could, I waited for it to dry completely and then hit it with the Howard's.  I followed the directions on the can, applying the oil to small sections at a time and then wiping clean with a dry rag.  Howard Restor-A-Finish quickly buffed out most of the imperfections and left the chair looking fresh and shiny.

Have you ever used Howard Restor-A-Finish before?  What did you think of the results?
